This is a card I taught in a class a few weeks ago. I used punches for the flowers & butterflies and the Tim Holtz die of the Bird Cage. The paper is Bo Bunny. I used tiny pearls in the center of the flowers. I distressed tje edges and used sepia ink with a finger dauber. Hope you enjoy!

I'm back with some great news! We have two new ladies that are helping me with the scrapbooking section of the shop. They are Pat Stokes and Ellen Lee. Hi Blogger friends, hope you had a wonderful Easter. This is a card I created using Flower Soft and a Pine punch. I made the flower stems on floral wire. I put the stems in styro foam to dry and then arranged them in the flower pot. The ......just because is an Artful Legacy stamp. Hope you enjoy!

I hope God has blessed you with a wonderful day! The card tonight is a tribute to our Service men & women. We salute you all for risking your lives to keep our country safe. You and your families are in our prayers.

This card was made using a photo stamp we made of my Uncle David. This photo was taken when he was a very young serviceman. We lost him a few years ago, but he had served his country very well. I brayed Ranger Archival Sepia Ink on the stamp then stamped on glossy paper. I crumpled the tag, distressed it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger, spritzed with water and then ironed. I used embellishments I had picked up at flea markets.

Get out your Easter Bonnet

Spring is in the air!!! I think today it was more like summer!! It is time to get out your Easter Bonnet and get all decked out with your Easter best. I created this card using Artful Legacy stamps, Sassy Chick, Sassy Chic Hat, Sassy Chic Pants.

I did paper piecing on the Chic by stamping it several times on different colored cardstock. I really love to use a lot of layers on my cards. I hope you enjoy the post. Thanks for stopping by.

Ready for Spring Flowers

Hello Friends, Hope you have all had a great day! I don't know about you - but I am ready for Spring!!!! The card below is cut in the shape of a flower pot with an insert. The flowers and leaves are stamps from Artful Legacy. I stamped the flowers on different color cardstock and embossed with gold powder. I then cut them out and layered with pop dots. Hope you will enjoy making some of these.

Sympathy Card

Hello Everyone,

This card was a Make & Take. We do Make & Take's on Wednesday's at the shop. Stop by anytime between 11 am & 3 pm and make a quick project for $4 to take home.

I used the swirls cuttlebug embossing folder, scalloped oval nestablilites, May Arts ribbon and Artful Legacy Stamps, With deepest Sympathy, Multi petal Flower (med), Mutil petal Flower (sm) and on the inside I stamped Heartfelt Sympathy. The images and sayings were stamped with gold Encore ink and embossed with gold embossing powder. A gold brad was used for the center of the flower and then it and the saying were popped up.

Beautiful Snow Fall

This is the beautiful snow fall outside our front window today. We had about 6 inches, you do not see snow very often in Camden, SC. This is our first big one this year! Everything is frozen now so conditions are not great outside. We are hoping that the ice does not cause power outages and everyone continues to be safe and warm! We had a little snow on December 26, almost a white Christmas.

Bird Watching...
One of the things we enjoy the most is taking our boat out on the water, anchoring in some of the calmer inlets and waterways, taking a swim, having a picnic supper and then just sitting and reading until the sun goes down. Of course, while we are doing that, being that my late mother-in-law was an avid naturist and bird watcher, that is something we do as well. It’s not unusual to see a number of sand pipers, pelicans, oyster catchers and, perhaps the most common, the egret.
They are beautiful, snow white majestic looking birds. And I was amazed at how realistic Artful Legacy’s rendering is! This is an awesome "GOTTA HAVE" stamp! The deep etching and fine details made this the perfect stamp to use for one of my new favorite techniques–embossing and etching on glass. The mirror was a Wal-Mart purchase. I used clear contact paper and laid out the square of the mirror and then cut the oval from that, overlapping the right edge off the page/mirror.. It took two tries-the first time I forgot that I needed to work with a mirrored (reversed) image of my stencil. Ok-so at least I had plenty of contact paper on hand! I first lightly laid it down (without removing the backing!) and, using a detail clear embossing powder, I stamped the egret in the center of my stencil and heat-embossed it. I then waited for the mirror to cool (the glass gets HOT! Use caution!), removed the backing on the contact stencil, and made sure it was firmly adhered. Knowing the etching creme works quickly, so did I! I smoothed a thick layer over the stencil and set my timer for the required 5 minutes and went to pet Ms. Dolly. When it rang, I rinsed off the etching creme as well as the embossed image. Where the embossing was, there was now clear mirror. The oval surrounding area was etched, creating the "frame" for my handsome egret. Total time? Maybe ½ hr. counting my cutting twice and photography! What wonderful Christmas presents these would make! : )

As Ratty told Mole in Kenneth Graham’s Wind in the Willows, "there is nothing-absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Just messing...", I think maybe we’ll go and do just that! Who knows--maybe we’ll spot a few of our feathered friends along the way. This card was made with 2 wonderful stamps from Artful Legacy that work well together or alone. What I did was stamp the sentiment first in black on a piece of white cardstock. I then took the praying hands stamp and inked it up in a mushroom color from Adirondack and stamped right over the words. I think it gives the card lots of dimension without the extra bulk. And these 2 stamps are quite versatile. This card could be used for many different occasions or just to let someone know you are thinking about them.

"NEVER SAY NEVER"

As alot of you know, we closed our store in Surfside Beach, SC last October and have been traveling as a vendor to several Rubber Stamp Conventions. We also moved from the beach to Lugoff, SC, which is near Camden, which is the Oldest Inland city and the fourth oldest city in the state in South Carolina. This is not a history lesson, but our new location. Well have you figured out where I am going with this....................."NEVER SAY NEVER".

Artful Legacy is opening again in a very cozy area of North Camden called "The Shops at Dicey Ford". Christine and I are very excited about opening another store. My shop will be out back of the building. We can, in most cases, give you same day service on a stamp if we are out of it or if you want it unmounted.

We look forward to re-opening our doors and seeing alot of our past customer's whether local or out of town. For out of town folks traveling I-20, take the Camden exit (exit 98). When you get off the exit you will be on Hwy 521 heading into Camden which is Broad Street. The store is approximately 4 miles from I-20 at the intersection of Broad Street and Dicey Ford Road. The address is 507 Dicey Ford Road, Camden, SC 29020.

By the Sea...the beautiful sea...

When I envisioned this project, I didn't anticipate how hard it would be to photograph! It looks much better in person! These BEAUTIFUL Artful Legacy stamps--Sandpipers (AL 362 G) and By the Sea ALS 151 I, are some of my favorite "go-to" beach stamps! Since I live by that beautiful sea, they get used quite often. I have never ever tried to stamp and etch glass before this! My initial idea was to use AL's new heron stamp for an etched image on a mirror. Since we live on an island, its sometimes difficult to find all the supplies we want/like/need. Hence the case with the mirror. My husband had this piece of glass in his "stash" and graciously shared it with me. The image is stamped on the glass, heat embossed, then covered with glass etching cream. Once the cream is washed off, any area that did not have embossing or cream stays clear. I used metal tape around the edges to "frame" the piece. (I promise a photo tutorial soon using the mirror and herson stamp soon!!) For now, I think this piece will adorn my kitchen window!
And, while I am sitting by that beautiful sea, I think I will take some time to peruse the NEW AND IMPROVED ARTFUL LEGACY storefront! Tip: When inking your letters, instead of trying to cover every part, just swipe the pad over the top. You get a new look and the less you swipe the more distressed the letter looks.

"Birdday Delivery"

This is a mini card. The base size is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 folded in half. I then layered cream colored cardstock, decorative paper and cut out the scalloped oval using Spellbinders nestabilities. I stamped Artful Legacy's Birdday Delivery on the oval and colored with Prisma colored pencils and Gamsol. I then stamped the saying "Birdday Delivery" layered it and attached to the front. I used Ranger Archival Sepia Ink and a finger dauber to go around the edges of all the cream pieces. Inside I stamped Birthday Wishes and From all of us with the Sepia Ink.
I really like making these small cards, they are great for using as gift cards or just to give someone to let them know you are thinking about them. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by.

Maybe its just my wishing and wanting some cooler temperatures but this Artful Legacy stamp sentiment:

really created a powerful word image for me! I love looking at anything that is dew-covered. It always makes everything so crisp, fresh and clean looking-and these two stamps (Lightly Dance ALS 1000 I and Jaclyn’s leaf, SKU JB 122 E) make a perfect pair and compliment one another nicely. Cool fall colored designer paper, cardstock and inks along with a muslin colored twill bow tie it all together. At least it looks cool–but then, I’m just a wee bit biased!
Seriously, take some time and "leaf" through the pages of Artful Legacy’s on-line catalog. Fall, followed by Christmas, isn’t that far off!

Since it was a photo of the beach, I used 2 great Artful Legacy stamps, "SEAHORSE AG441J" and "LG SHELL CLUSTER AL348J" I embossed them with Versamark and copper embossing powder, cut them out and adhered them with foam tape. They made the layout quite special.

Ok-I can’t say I have ever actually seen PINK lawn mowers and grass catchers–but one of these days tool makers are going to get smart and start catering to the women who take their landscaping seriously! The craft industry has-we’ve gone from those basic and boring grays, blacks and browns to a whole rainbow of colors in the craft-tool realm!
But, I digress. I like the Artful Legacy "Grass Catcher" (SKU ALA 506 K) stamped in hot pink complete with a bow. I wanted to add a few crystals for some more glitz and glam but they just didn’t seem to fit. I can just hear this weary lady wailing "I fought the lawn, and the lawn won!" (AL’s SKU 1222 G) She probably suggests a shopping spree in her next gasp as a way to recover! Lol! ANY EXCUSE...is a good excusing for shunning the lawn work and shopping instead...and I hope you will take time to shop Artful Legacy. Their stamps, supplies and service are all AWESOME!

Multi-Colored Stamping Tutorial by Becky Allen

Step 1: SUPPLIES
Gather all of your supplies. You will need the following:
· Turtle Stamp by Artful Legacy
· Clear Block (if stamps are unmounted)
· Colored Pens – for stamping
· Cardstock and Embellishments of your choice

Step 2: Color #1
Color the 1st section of the turtle with the 1st color

Step 3: Color #2
Color the 2nd section of the turtle with the 2nd color

Step 4: Color #3
Color the 3rd section of the turtle with the 3rd color

Step 5: Stamp Image and Die Cut
Huff your breath on the entire stamped image. This will remoisten the stamp. Stamp the image on the paper. After the image is stamped, die cut the image. In my card I die cut and then embossed with Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Large Oval, and layered it on top of the Classic Large Scallop Oval Nestabilities die, both cut and embossed using the Cuttlebug.

Step 5: Finish
Assemble the card as desired. In my card I have used Kraft card stock, with Basic Grey’s new Kraft collection and Basic Grey’s Max and Whiskers collection – both from the 6x6 paper pad.

This weeks card just looks so summery to me. I love summer colors and this card has all of my favorites. The stamp works perfectly for this card. Its called "There are many beautiful things ALS 1055J".I paired it with an A-2 baby pink card base and some flower paper from a big stack made by Me and My Big Ideas. After adding some hydrangeas and a bit of chalk dusting to the edges, my sweet little summery card was done!!!

A PERFECT CUT...
As I write today’s post, I have the perfect background "music" playing–the hum and buzz of at least 4 different lawn mowers! We live at the beach you see, and we are surrounded by rental properties. It seems that all of our closest neighbors have picked Wednesday afternoon to have their grass groomed! Makes for quiet Saturday mornings—but it sure is noisy today!
That said, I knew what I wanted to use for my husband’s birthday card this year as soon as I saw the Artful Legacy catalog from Christine. He’s a 4th of July baby (yes, I know the 4th has come and gone–it’s late!) and in past years I’ve used a patriotic theme off and on. This year, however, I wanted something different. Since he cuts the grass for several of our elderly friends as well as our church in his spare time, the design was simple-just needed Artful Legacy’s "Grass Catcher" (SKU ALA 506 K) and the "Happy birthday to a Man Who is a Cut Above the Others" (SKU ALS 12211) stamps! It just couldn’t get any"mow" easier.
I think I will go find some ear plugs and take a nap now!

For this weeks card, I again went to the beautiful flower sillouhette stamp "Wild Flowers Large ALF657N". This time I stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed in a dark colbalt blue color. I think it turned out great and gives a whole different look then when I did the flowers in white a couple weeks ago. The sentiment is the stamp "You Cant Live a Perfect Day ALS 205H". I stamped that in a dark blue ink and popped it up with foam tape. Please visit my blog for more photos.

Tryin’...to KEEP COOL!
Maybe it’s because it’s summer and just plain hot outside...or because one of us in this house is always HOT and the other (the "spousal unit" as one blogger calls her mate) is walking around in sweat pants, sweatshirt, socks...well, what can I say?! It’s all part of "that age" and "power surges"! Lol! I just thought my husband was cold-natured....until our company went in search of sweaters and blankets as well!
So–what does my hot flashes have to do with ARTFUL LEGACY?! This idea did not originate with me–I am sorry, but I cannot remember whose blog I saw it on–but they used the Top Note die cut and large popsicle sticks to make these AWESOME hand-held FANS! They are going in every room in my house! AL's "beachy" stamps as I call them are a perfect pick for this project! On the die cut ones, I used AL’S ADIRONDACK CHAIR (SKU 114K) as well as the shell cluster-large (SKU AL 348 J). Then, as I was working-I got the idea to just use a strip of paper 4 1/4"x11", score on the 5 1/2"line, fold it over and round the corners? I think these with the large shell cluster, small shell cluster (SKU AL 347 G) and the Come Walk with Me (SKU AL 1276 JJ) sentiment are going to go into a jar with a little sand and shells into the guest room! What a neat little "treat" for those who want to venture out for a walk on the beach or to rock on the deck?! They are quick, easy and oh so inexpensive! ; ) And, for those of us who are always hot-OHSOHANDY!
The Artful Legacy images are so realistic-I can decide if I want to stretch out in that chair and nap...or go take a walk on the beach in search of shells?! Hmmm!

This week, instead of making a card, I made a corner bookmark. It was the featured tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers last week. They are really easy and fun to do. Whats even better is that you get to use up your little scraps that, if you are like me, are lying around everywhere. Since this is a small project, you do need an awesome stamp to feature. This is where "SEAHORSE AG441J" comes in. The detail on this stamp is excellent, and its also a nice size, at almost 3 inches. I contemplated even coloring it, but went with a minimal amount of a beige tone for some contrast. These would make great stocking stuffers, and its never too early to start thinking of that kind of stuff. For more info, go to my blog (see sidebar).

I love this weeks card. I think this image is just so cute. Its called "JACLYNS CRAB JB137JJ". I can see myself reaching for it for cards like this one- to apologize, or for an invitation to a seafood cookout, or for a childs birthday invitation . The list just goes on and on~ I used a simple color scheme of red, black and gray so the image would take center stage. The crab is colored in with Copics in vibrant shades of red. I used the sentiment stamp "SUCH A CRAB ALS1234E" and cut it out in a flag shape, adhereing it with pop dots and curving it for some extra dimension. See my blog for some more details.

She made this card for Charleston Scrapbooking, they just moved into their new space around the corner from where they were. Congratulation "Mom" & Michelle on your new larger space. Amanda is working on classes and make and takes for their Christmas in July Celebrations. She layered it on Basic Grey Paper and Solid coordinating papers.

IT’S NOT ALL TALK...!
For today’s post I chose to keep it all "black and white". Not sure why—it’s not a color scheme I usually pick-but for whatever reason the contrast in colors struck my fancy. Stumped for "man" cards? Black and white can do it! This would be appropriate for a man...or a woman.

I used a solid black base and then layered the white card base onto that. I cut the front of the card by hand using my Nestabilities circle die to create the arc I wanted. I then punched the flower, cut a black circle for the center and then a smaller white one, again using the Nestabilities die (new toy for me-can you tell?!) My ribbon was sheer and, while I liked that it matched the dp, it didn't pop. I solved that dilemma by simply cutting a strip of black paper the width of the ribbon and layered the ribbon on top! But what really makes this card special are the ARTFUL LEGACY stamps. I absolutely adore the old phone titled "talk"(SKU AL 338 C)! How well I remember from childhood the old heavy-duty black rotary phone we had! I still love them and even had one when I went to college! But I digress-I paired the phone with the "I will sit with you..." sentiment (ALS 1271 K). In case you are wondering...yes, I did have to cut my stamp to get it to fit in the narrower card format so my card shows 3 lines instead of the two lines you find it in. That’s another great thing about Artful Legacy stamps! If you do decide to alter them, the rubber cuts like a hot knife through butter and you get a smooth, clean edge. I’ve had stamps from some companies that were like trying to cut through steel and ended up with ragged, chopped up edges and, in some cases, the stamped image cut up as well! Not so with these. It was a close cut and I debated "to cut" or "not to cut" but I took a deep breath and went for it! Perfecto! Thanks, Christine and Buck, for such great products to create with!

It’s too hot to be outside–so why don’t you sit in the cool and peruse the Artful Legacy on-line catalog? Can’t think of a better way to spend a hot, summer day...unless it involves paper, stamps (ARTFUL LEGACY, of course!), ink, embellies and a cool drink with an umbrella in it! ; ) Hmm...where is that butler?!

Tips & Tricks of the Trade...

I have to confess—I remembered about 4 AM this morning when I was writhing in pain unable to sleep–that I was supposed to have gotten Christine a tutorial to post TODAY. Oops. But, the day is just beginning and I hope that what I have to share will be helpful. If you were looking for a project to complete, this might not be quite what you expected! I sat down a couple of years ago and made a small "tips and tricks" book for my scrappy-stamp lovin’ goddaughter, Maren. She will be 11 (going on 25!) this November. She had her first stamping experience when she was just 2 or 3. The next time she came over she said she wanted "to make a picture." I gave her paper and crayons. The lip quivered, the tears rolled. I was surprised and asked her what was wrong. Just sobbing she told me she didn’t want to make that kind of picture, Shar-on..." instead, she said and I quote, "I want to STAMP!" Gotta love that girl!!! She has "graduated" to making pages and books on her own and I am quite proud of my protegee!
Some of these tips and tricks even seasoned stampers and scrapbookers will appreciate, others might be of more use to newbies—whichever group you fall into–I hope you will find some nugget of wisdom to make today’s post profitable for you! Here’s my list...
Keep your tools organized! (No, I don’t always practice what I preach–but it’s a whole lot nicer to have a clean workspace and be able to put my hands on my tools and not dig around for them!
Invest in and use good organizing bins, baskets, drawers, etc. Again, it’s easier to clean up if everything has a home and is clearly labeled. Use pretty colors, stamp the labels... go crazy–just make it work for YOU!
Use old magazines, catalogs, etc. as glue sheets. Put it down, glue your project, turn the page and presto! Clean work surface! Just toss it out when done. Not a catalog junkie like me? Our library has a bin of free magazines! Help them recycle.
If you are mass-producing cards, take a Slinky (Dollar Store or the dollar bin at Michaels is your best bet!) wrap the slinky around a jar, coffee can, etc. and clip the ends together. This creates an instant "card organizer" to separate the cards as you work on them. It gives them some space so any adhesives can dry and you can clearly see which cards are ready for the next step!
Create a system that works for you to organize and catalog stamps, ink pads, embellish-ments, etc. As a "seasoned stamper"—I have far too many to create the notebook or index system of these items as some do to take with me when I shop–but for "newbies" and "beginners" this is an EXCELLENT idea! It will save you from buying the same stamp or ink pad twice (been there, done that!).
Did you know...if you are making cards to sell at craft shows, etc.-that the stamps you use must be from what’s called an Angel Company? Each stamp company has their own policies on what can and can’t be used on items for sale. Some don’t mind and give you free reign while others say you can only use so many of the images or have specific wording you must use. Be sure to check–and maybe even mark your stamps for quick reference.
You gotta have the right tools! And some can get pricey! What’s new and wonderful today...will be obsolete and replaced by something better next year. Make choices carefully on what you will and won’t use and purchase accordingly. Sometimes those extra few dollars you spend is well worth what you save in Aspirin you would end up taking for the headache from trying to "improvise". Theresa and I share things, too–so consider your group having a tool time party and use each others gadgets and gizmo’s if budgets are tight or to simply try a new product someone has before you buy.
If you’re making one...why not make 6 more for your "stash"? If you have all the tools, papers, stamps, etc. out to make one card–it’s just as easy to at least make the pieces for additional cards rather than put it all away and pull it out again later to make more. Do it NOW–and it’s done. Then when you have that "uh-oh—I forgot so-and-so" moment you pull a card from your stash-it’s done! You don’t have to have 3 hours to start from scratch!
NO NAKED MAIL! Lol. I always, always, always—stamp something on the envelope! Often on both sides of the envelope! Let the post office people have something pretty to look at, too-they need to smile more, anyway! Or, try the glassine or vellum envelopes that let the card shine through!
And another thing about enve’s...if you live in a high-humidity climate like I do–store your enve’s in large Ziplock bags or at least in a plastic container you can seal. Or slip a piece of wax paper between the flap and the enve—otherwise that pretty enve may seal itself to itself!
Always buy more paper than you think you will need for a project! How many times have I gotten home and miss-cut, miss-glued–whatever–and needed...just one more sheet! Always buy extra. You like it, right? You can use it for something sometime—or, trade it with someone else. It’s better to have extra, trust me!
And if there’s coordinating paper, ribbon, ink, etc.—it’s a lot easier to buy those, too, than to try and mix and match and make do. It sometimes costs more, but again, it saves in Aspirin!
Stock up on glue sticks and other adhesives when back to school sales start. You can never have too many glue sticks!
Do you like to take classes? Get instructions for projects from them or off a blog? Create a notebook to use as a reference guide. I staple the pages together, put the date and place of the class or blog on it, and then slip them back to back in a page protector! This way I can flip through when I want to recreate something and just pull out the instructions.
Whew! I don’t know about you, but my mind is spinning! I hope there was at least one thing you found helpful in here! I need to make some more cards today and I owe Christine two posts–last week and this so I’d better get going! This weeks card uses the adorable stamp "CHIC QUEEN" AF 102 K from Artful Legacy. We all have a little of her in us, dont we?? She is just to funny, and my mind was spinning with a million ways to use her. I chose to use her this time to symbolize my daughter. She gave me the inspiration when she came into my art studio wearing some crazy shoes. My daughter has Down Syndrome, and although she is different than most, she is actually very much like all of us. So this weeks card is for her.
I have stamped the chick in black, but did almost no coloring. She is paper pierced from head to toe. The only things colored are her beak, shoes and blue eyes. I gave her some rhinestone sparkles for her crown, and gave her shoes a lacquer finish with Stampin Ups Crystal Effects. I have also popped up her wing with pop dots.
The card is A-2 sized and made on a black card base. I put a pale pink piece of designer paper in the inside of the card for ease of writing. A bit of gray ribbon with a bow finishes it up. There are some more photos on my blog.

This weeks card uses a technique that's been around awhile, but seems to be gaining in popularity. It works wonderful for large, silhouette type stamps like "WILD FLOWERS" ALF 657 N. I think that it shows off the beauty and detail of such a pretty stamp. The technique is called Emboss Resist . Although it works on plain cardstock or patterned paper, I made my own by using a word stamp first. Then I stamped the flower in versamark and heat embossed with white powder. Then I took a lighter pink ink and sponged around the image to show it off a bit more. I added gray homemade photo corners to the popped up image. The pretty , criinkly ribbon in the upper corner is one I made myself using Glimmer Mist to color it. I think it works perfectly for this card although when I made it, I had no card in mind. I used a small piece trimmed away from the front to embellish the inside of the card. Sentiment is called "May The Lord Use" ALS 1218 JJ, and is stamped in Rouge chalk ink.

TAKE TIME.....by Sharon Russell

"TAKE TIME...
....to enjoy the simple things in life" is the sentiment for today’s Artful Legacy’s blog post.
And "time" is something I seem to be rather short on lately. First a trip for a family wedding, then company, and whew...I am worn out! Today’s morning prayer during our church service reminded us to take time to thank God for the little things...the buzz of a bee, the breeze, the sound of a bird...and was really the inspiration for this card–besides the fact that I love to ride bikes! Particularly if it has an "ooga-ooga" horn and tassels on the handle bar grips! The beachfront--particularly in non-tourist season--is a great place to do it. Artful Legacy’s stamp beach grass (SKU AL 335 JJ) sets the perfect scene with the sea oats gently swaying in the breeze. I can almost smell the salt air just looking at it! The bike on the card actually "travels" from one end of the "beach road" to the other! This could be the route past our house! I added the sentiment (above)–another great Artful Legacy stamp (SKU ALS 919 G)–to the inside.
Maybe when dinner is done, I will take a short ride...

This week I went with a summery theme for my card. I was inspired by the wonderful stamp from Artful Legacy called "SUNNY DAYS" ALS 1307 H. I paired it with a sand castle I made with my Quickutz Die. Made a an A-2 card base in sky blue, I used some designer paper made with bright, cheerful colors. They remind me of all the colors ice pops come in. I cut them into strips and distressed and inked the edges. I popped up the sentiment and sand castle, added some ribbon tied into knots and lastly, painted some glitter onto the castle.

After $88 in tolls.......we arrived in West Springfield, MA

$88.00 worth of tolls, Sitting in traffic for three hours, Some of the roughest worn out roads I've ever seen, The George Washington Bridge, seeing the City of New York from the Bridge, 18 hours later we arrived in West Springfield, Ma. Yep, you have probably already figured out that this is Buck and not Christine. No seriously, we had a long but good trip. Set-up went well on Friday. Today, the first day of the show was good. There was a good crowd of folks that for some reason, I cannot understand, have a problem understanding what I say. I guess they should all move south....No, we always meet some of the best and most pleasurable people at the shows. Meeting and talking with new folks from different parts of the country is very interesting for me. For the folks that follow us and have viewed our past show pictures, You will notice that we have added several grid fixtures displaying more of our stamps as unmounted on Cling. I have a couple of more ideas for our booth to increase our unmounted and also mounted stamps as we have more new stamps planned. Well, I'm out of here, so pray for us tomorrow for a go show and a safe ride back home. We'll be working for the next several days planning for Stamp Fest in Orlando. Starfish Tutorial by Becky Allen

Step 1: SUPPLIES
Gather all of your supplies. You will need the following:
· Starfish Stamp by Artful Legacy
· Clear Block (if stamps are unmounted)
· Cocoa colored Cardstock (for standard size A2 card, 8.5”x5.5”
· Turquoise Textured Cardstock (cut 5.25“ x 4“)
· Brown Cardstock (cut 5“ x 3.75“)
· Vanilla Cardstock (cut 4.75“ x 3.5“)
· Versamark Inkpad
· Chalks and Applicator
· Linen Thread
· 4 Brads
· Paper Piercing Tool or Needle
· Foam Pop Squares
· Ticket Corner Punch
· Mini Mister by Ranger
· Rubbing Alcohol
· Shimmer Paint or Perfect Pearls
· Adhesive

Step 2: CUT CARDSTOCK AND SCORE
Cut all cardstock to size. Score the Cocoa cardstock at 4.25”, fold card in half. This creates a A2 standard size card– 5.5” x 4.25”

Step 3: STAMPING
Using the Versamark clear ink pad, stamp the Starfish stamp on the Vanilla Cardstock – this is the main image. Without reinking the stamp, stamp the image in several places around the edges of the vanilla cardstock – try not to overlap the main image. Using your chalk applicator, apply a complimentary colored brown chalk to the main starfish image. You will DAB the chalk on the image – do not rub the chalk. You do this in a pouncing motion.

Step 4: CHALKING
Using your chalk applicator, apply a complimentary turquoise chalk to the main starfish image. Blend the turquoise into the brown chalk by dabbing slightly into the brown. Using any lighter color, I used blush colored chalk, dab chalk onto the other starfish images you stamped. Use the Ticket Corner Punch on all four corners of the vanilla cardstock. Using the original brown and turquoise colored chalk, apply chalk around the entire edge of the vanilla cardstock. I applied Brown first, then turquoise.

Step 5: MINI MISTING
Mix together the Rubbing Alcohol and a small drop of Shimmer Paint, or small amount of Perfect Pearls Powder. This will create a fine mist that you lightly spray on the Vanilla cardstock and Brown Cardstock. It will dry very quickly and leave behind a beautiful sparkle on the paper, like sand in the sunlight

Step 6: BRADS
Layer the brown and turquoise cardstock together with adhesive. Lay the vanilla cardstock on top – but do not apply with adhesive. Using your paper piercer, poke a hole in all four corners of the brown cardstock as shown. Insert a mini brad into each hole.

Step 7: Linen Thread
Wrap linen thread around the Vanilla cardstock at the top and bottom several times. Adhere to back with a piece of tape or with your favorite adhesive.

Step 7: FINISHING TOUCHES
Using foam adhesive, attach the Vanilla cardstock to the layers and then attach the layers to the base card with adhesive. You are done!

I needed a place to store all my shells my son collected while we visited Pawley's Island, SC. They've been in a box but I wanted to pull them out and show them off. I decided to decorate a clear paint pail and add my South Carolina shells. Buy your paint pail before you go to the beach and take it with you. You and your children comb the beach for shells, drift woods etc. But if you are in South Carolina do not pick the Sea Oaks, they are protected!!

This week I have made another Fathers Day card. Of course it could also be for any masculine occasion, birthday, anniversary, Get Well, or even Happy Retirement. The main stamp I used is "DUCK" ALM 512L.
It stamps beautifully, has quite a bit of detail and colors up so nice. I stamped it in Black and used my Copics to color it in. I used colors a shade lighter and then washed them in a pale gray for the ducks reflection in the water. The card is 6 by 6 inches and had a navy blue card base. Since there are'nt too many embellishments you can use on a masculine card, My main embellishment was some corrogated cardboard that I tore a bit to expose the ridges, and then dry brushed some blue paint on. A Navy grograin ribbon was added behind the image, and a simple knot was attached to the left side. The sentiment "FOR MY HUSBAND" ALS 1209 D was stamped in Olive ink and adhered with foam tape. Simple- yet stunning~

It's nearly time for Father's Day so I'm getting a head start on my card making. I fell in love with Artful Legacy's stamp "Timepiece" along with many of my blog readers. "Timepiece" has an incredible vintage and detailed look.

I started with a metallic brown base from Prism 5.25 x 11. I layered a deep blue mat on top. I made my very top piece with tag board. I created the lined look on my computer printing the lines in a nice brown on the tag board. I cut to fit as a top mat. I used Tattered Angels screens and spritzed the paper with Ranger's mini-mister with water and a dropper of Tea Dye reinker. Dry with your Heat It tool. I added some ink dimension using my Ranger blending tool and two of the new Tim Holtz Distress Inks, pumice and stormy sky.
For a really aged look I used Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink to stamp Artful Legacy's Timepiece. I attached the top mat to the card. Using the pumice and stormy sky I inked three diamond tiles from Technique Tuesday and added the letters d-a-d from Maya Road inked with the walnut stain distress ink. --

Sorry these pictures of the book are out of order - they should be at the end. Anyway, this is the Chipboard Book we made in our class at the Ocean City, MD convention. We had ten ladies in the class on Saturday, they all left very pleased with their finished project.

This was a real experience going through the tunnel. The is Chesapeake Channel. Can you see the the little building out in the water? then there is a break with nothing and you see another little building. Looks like the bridge ends!!!!!!!! Well , this is when you go under the water in the tunnel!!!!

Buck has white knuckles.........the anticipation of going under all that water and crossing that really long bridge!!!!!!

Coming out of the tunnel......Buck was really glad!!!!! This was on Thursday afternoon. We found our motel, got settled in, found a place to get some dinner, went back to room to some much needed rest for the next day when we would set up our booth. The convention was held at the Carosel in Ocean City. This was a realloy neat place - who would ever think of having an Ice Skating rink at the beach - well, they did right outside the room we were setup in. This is a really great place. If you ever get to Ocean City, MD check it out! Better yet plan to attend the convention next year.

Since Fathers Day is right around the corner, I thought I would make a masculine card today. I am a lover of all things flowery and frilly, so cards for men usually scare me. But when I saw this gorgeous stamp "Ship AG 517 M", my fears were gone. Its so detailed, and such a nice large size that my card came together rather quickly. I stamped it in a chocolate brown ink onto cream cardstock and chalked the edges in a creamy brown. It was so nice as is, I decided not to color it. I then paired it with some travel and map themed designer paper and mounted all this onto some pumpkin colored cardstock. My card measures 6 inches square. I distressed all edges of the paper and used a punch to make it look like the smaller piece was torn from a notebook. To finish the card and add a little embellishment, I wrapped some thin twine around the smaller piece several times and tied it off in a bow. I am so pleased with the way it came out.

Water Card Tutorial by Jessica Altman

To start your water (gel) card you will need:

5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock for card
4" x 5 1/4" piece of cardstock for card front (window piece)
3 3/4" x 5" piece of cardstock for window border (optional)
3 1/2" x 4 3/4" piece of white cardstock (for image)
Ziploc® bag (I used 3" x 4")
Hair gel (prefer non-scented)
Coluzzle©, paper cutter, or punch
Double sided tape

Step 1
Use your Coluzzle© to cut a window in your card front. You could also use your paper cutter, a punch or your hobby knife for this task.Cut a size smaller oval into a complementary colored piece of cardstock to create a border for the window.

Step 2
Decorate your card front.
If you have a border piece tape it behind your card front. Set aside.

Step 3
Squeeze some hair gel into your ziploc® bag. Only add enough to cover the inside of the bag. Too much gel might cause the bag to "pop" later on. Press excess air out of the bag, close it and spread the gel evenly over the entire inside of the bag.

Step 4
Turn your card front around and tape the gel bag over the opening. Use double sided tape.

Step 5
Stamp the image you want to be seen through the bag on white cardstock. I used Artful Legacy's

Hot Lips LE 100 JJ fish. This is a fun stamp to use.

Step 6
Center image behind gel window and adhere it to the window. I used Artful Legacy's Baby Fish LE 104 G on top, and one fish....two fish ALS 1283 G saying.
Then adhere the window and image to your card and you are done.

Hi Everyone,
I am so sorry that I did not get Jessica's Tutorial posted on Saturday - Buck & I were away in Ocean City, MD and the internet connection in our motel was not working right. Jessica has done a great job with your tutorial and I will have it posted today!

We had a Great Show this weekend in Ocean City!!!!!! This was the best we have had since we started in February. We want to Thank Joe & Kathy of Sea Side Stamping for having us. We hope to be back next year! It was great to see some folks that visited our shop in Sufside. We also meet alot of new friends.

SC Moon Three for One by Sharon Russell

(Almost!) One Stamp = Three Cards!
This week is a "three-fer!" With (almost) one stamp -- Artful Legacy’s South Carolina Palm (Med./SKU # ALF 606 K) -- and a little help from my computer, I created not one but THREE cards! Yes, I know, I live in North Carolina–but I have to confess that my husband and I love the South Carolina emblem. The palm tree coupled with the crescent ( or "God’s fingernail") moon is just elegant. I couldn’t resist!
The first card I added a flower with a face-center as well as the "For you..." The inside sentiment says that the card is from a G.R.I.T.S. girl... What’s that? You thought grits were something you eat? Well, yes-that’s true-but it also stands for "Girl(s) Raised in the South." Born a yankee, I was transplanted to Florida at age 11 and moved to NC in my early 20's, so I consider myself a "GRITS" girl!
The second card has the words to the song "Carolina Moon." I confess-I have heard the title over the years but I don’t think I ever heard the song sung until I Googled it today. Hmm...just perfect for "from me...missing U" on the inside. Of course the palm tree and crescent moon was a perfect fit for the outside and it is simply pop-dotted over the words.
The last card, but not least, is simply the South Carolina Palm stamp set off by a decorative corner punch. A simple yet sophisticated note card that’s blank inside (lined with white of course).
And...I could do a whole lot more with this stamp! Need a palm tree to go with that little hula girl image? Just make a mask and/or trim out the moon and you’re good to go! Need a moon shining down on that camp out layout? Just stamp and cut out the crescent moon. Artful Legacy’s stamps give a clear, crisp image and, as you can see, add a lot of versatility to your stamp and scrapbooking projects! This weeks card is another of my favorite color combinations. White and Blue. It just evokes such a crisp clean feeling to me. I used "Come Walk With Me" ALS 1276J and "Lg Shell Cluster" AL 348 J. I made my own background paper with the shell cluster by stamping it numerous times in a soft blue ink, turning the stamp different ways. I then added some glitter to key areas of the shells and adhered this to a light blue panel. I made a bow out of a frothy white thick, yet sheer ribbon and wrapped that around this panel. I chose that ribbon as it reminded me of whitecaps on the ocean. This panel was then attached to the card base, a 6 by 6 inch darker blue piece of cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in black, cut it out with oval Nestablilities and framed it with a scallop Nestie. This was adhered with pop dots to the middle of the card. Inside has been left blank

Kathy took one of our heat gun holders and altered it. (This is a must have for your craft room) Pretty cool! This is a great tool to have for your heat gun. You have both of your hands free. The paddle has a piece of non stick craft sheet so your work does not stick, it also has a stick to hold your project so it will not blow away and you will not burn your fingers.

We have to sizes - one with a small hole for the guns like you see in the photo and one with a larger hole for the Heat it tool sold by Ranger. (the one that looks like a hair dryer) Thanks Kathy for a great job!

So...what was my inspiration for this week’s Artful Legacy blogspot post? A paper bag. Yep. A small, plain paper bag that was laying on the floor of my craft room! I knew the moment I saw it what it was going to grow up to be. A wall hanging! I added some corrugated cardboard (just stripped the paper right off the flap of that overflowing box that’s been sitting there..), whipped out the paint brush and some off-white paint, gave the cardboard just enough paint to make it look like Tom and Huck took one or two swipes at it, stamped Artful Legacy’s Love Background (SKU # AL 507 O) repeatedly on the bag, tore the edges right off, then went to town with other (beach-themed) embellishments. The well-worn look is vintage beach-- my absolute favorite! Ever need to make "sand"? Simply mix 1/3 silver to 2/3 gold microbeads! Adhere with Crystal Effects and you have instant beach. That’s the pretty gold tones you see along the edges of the paper! Add sunglasses, starfish, flip flops and of course some mesh (um, that’s really latch hook rug mesh!), and more shells from Artful Legacy -Small Shell Cluster (SKU # AL 347 G), a charm made from a bottle cap top (thanks, Tommy!)...and instant wall-hanging! Oops-forget the white cord and "Sharon knots" along with yet another shell by AL – Channeled Welk (#SKU AL 351 G) to top it all off. I don’t know about you, but I am going to be myself, treasure the moment, put my sunglasses and flip flops on and head down to the beach to take a long walk, dream, RELAX, count my lucky stars and watch the sunset... Amanda: Stamping On Dominos Tutorial

Place Dominos in bleach overnight to soak. This will help dissolve the manufacture coating on the dominos.

Rinse the Dominos off and dry thoroughly.

Paint Dominos with acrylic paint. I used Adirondack Dimensional Pearls in Cranberry and

Wild Pulm.

Apply Adirondack Alcohol Ink in various colors using Tim Holtz's Blending Tool. I used pastel colors: Shell Pink, Cloudy Blue, Willow and Pearl.

Stamp your Artful Legacy Falmingo using Stazon Ink, Jet Black onto the pastel background.

Off stamp the Flamingo on scratch paper and cut it out. Use two way glue and cover back of cut out image and allow to dry for temporary use.

Place temporary image on top of the stamped image on the Domino and use Brown Stazon Ink and stamp Fence. Peel off temporary image and reveal the image.

Stamp using Jet Black Stzon Ink along the side of the Domino using Artful Legacy's Life's A Beach Stamp.

Apply a coat of Glossy Accents over the entire Domino creating a seal.

Drill a hole through the side of the Domino with a Dremil Drill.

Thread a cord or ribbon thought the holes to form a necklace.

This week I used 2 great stamps from Artful Legacy. With the beach season upon us, I couldn't help but reach for LADIES AT THE BEACH AL495JJ, and SIT BY THE SEA ALS 1003G. I wanted to go with some muted, vintagey~ type tones with this card and I accomplished that with lots of beiges, aquas, and muted pinks. When I look at this image and card, I think of beach goers from the turn of the century, when women had to cover up to enjoy the ocean. It has pieces embossed with the Swiss Dot folder form Cuttlebug and colored in with Copic Markers

The flower petals are made of 1 1/2" squares folded one side a little more than half and the other side is folded to the crease of the first fold. I adhered the petals to a 4" circle to make a flower. I sewed then stamped the Dotted Background on the flower adding my button and pearls last. Simple but fun!

"Take time to sit By The Sea" by Sharon Russell

FRIENDS...
...Take time to sit by the Sea...is my theme for this week’s card. Since I live at the beach, it’s only natural that I gravitate toward beach-themed stamps! While you can’t see it in my photographs, we have had so much humidity here Friday-Sunday that my step-card actually warped quite a bit! I literally had to "shore it up!" My husband actually whipped up a shadow box for the anniversary card I had made him last year as it, too, was suffering from the damp, salt-air. If I could only bottle that smell...! Back to my card-I stamped Artful Legacy’s Ladies at the Beach (SKU AL 495 JJ) on watercolor paper and embossed it with clear embossing powder. AL’s deep-etched stamps give a great, clear image even when it comes to fine detail! That, coupled with the embossing that provided "raised" lines that help capture the paint, made the water coloring a cinch. I cut the ladies out and attached the image to the front of the card with brads. I thought about adding shells or the sentiment itself to the bottom of the image but decided I liked the "uncluttered" look better. The center "step" has three layers of shell scallop punch borders to make the "waves". To the last "step" in the card I added a large slide-mount die cut that I covered with designer paper. I stamped and clear embossed the sun image on the back layer so it would peek through the opening of the slide-mount. I added a layer of Pop-Dots in between these two layers to provide room for the card to easily slip in and out. The "Friends" image was stamped on white cardstock and then a layer added to the inside of the card with Artful Legacy’s "Take time to sit by the sea" sentiment (SKU ALS 1003 G). Hmm...on a shelf in our bedroom I have chipboard letters (decorated, of course!) that spell "RELAX"..this card just might have to sit next to it! For this card I used distressing and background stamping, glitter for his wings, and Crystal Effects for the Bumble Bees body. Because I wanted to make this a vintage style card, I added a piece of vintage aqua lace down the left side. Topped that off with a black plaid ribbon. Inside has been left blank.

Probably the least talked and blogged about cards – are sympathy cards. While we don’t like to (gasp!) buy them or make them, we need them. For many years now, I have had to computer generate sympathy sayings. I just could not find one that "said it all." Well-until now. Since our dear DT member and my great friend, Theresa, suffered a loss this week when her cousin lost her battle with cancer, I was in need of a card. It was the perfect opportunity to put Artful Legacy’s HEARTFELT SYMPATHY sentiment stamp (SKU #ALS 1012 J ) to use! Sympathy cards are tricky-you want something nicely done and yet somewhat subtle at the same time. I chose muted tones of seafoam green and baby blue enhanced with layers of white. Cuttlebug’s embossing folder Bird Call makes a hard-to-photograph but beautiful image for thinking of you/get well/sympathy cards. A silky ribbon and corner punch set it off. For the second card, I added AL’s SMALL SHELL CLUSTER stamp (SKU #AL 347 G) on the front along with their CHANNELED WELK (SKU # AL 351 G) on the inside. Again, the soft colors paired well and set off these images. The sentiment expresses sympathy, offered prayer and God’s comfort during a time of loss. What more is there?! It –simply–says it all! While I am hooked on the joy-fold technique card format–my afterthought (hindsight is 20/20!) is that perhaps a card that opened a little more traditionally would be better but oh well-it’s the thought that counts–and AL has me covered there! Step 1: SUPPLIES
Gather all of your supplies. You will need the following:
· Moon and Stars Stamps by Artful Legacy
· Clear Block (if stamps are unmounted)
· Dark Blue Cardstock (for standard size A2 card, 8.5”x5.5”
· Yellow Cardstock (cut two pieces, 4.5“ x 3.75“, 3.75“ x 3“)
· Black Cardstock ( 4.25“ x 3.5“)
· 2 Shades of Blue Ink – 1 lighter and 1 darker
· 1 black inkpad
· Brayer
· Blue Stickles
· Versamark Inkpad
· Clear embossing powder and embossing static pad
· Heat Tool
· Sponge or Dauber

Step 2: SCORING
Score the Blue cardstock at 4.25”, fold card in half. This creates a A2 standard size card– 5.5” x 4.25”

Step 3: STAMPING
Rub both the Blue Card and the small Yellow cardstock with the embossing static pad. This will prevent the embossing powder from sticking on the cardstock, but will allow it to stick to the stamped images. Using the Versamark clear ink pad, stamp the Stars stamp on the Blue Card around the edges of the card. Stamp the Moon stamp in the center of the small Yellow card stock and the Stars only around the edges of the card stock. Coat all stamped images with clear embossing powder and shake off the excess onto a piece of paper or your embossing tray. Pour the excess powder back into the container. I usually keep my embossing powder in a glad sandwich size plastic container for ease of pouring the excess back into the container, then I use a plastic spoon to apply the powder and store it in the container when done.

Step 4: EMBOSSING
Using the heat tool, melt the embossing powder on all stamped images. It will turn glossy clear when melted.

Step 5: BRAYERING
Using the Brayer, roll it on the light blue ink pad until well coated. Start by rolling off the paper, and then continue moving the brayer onto the card stock. You need to start off the paper to avoid any splotchy inking or lines. Repeat until you have the desired color. Using a paper towel, wipe the ink off the stamped image on the cardstock. It will easily come off the glossy embossed images, allowing the yellow cardstock to show through.

Step 6: BRAYERING 2nd COLOR
Using the Brayer, roll it on the dark blue ink pad until well coated. Start by rolling off the paper at the top of the card stock, and slowly move the brayer onto the card stock. You do not want to move the brayer all the way down towards the bottom of the cardstock. Using a black ink pad and sponge (or dauber) – sponge black ink heavily in around the edges where the dark blue ink is and then lightly where the light blue ink is. The entire edge of all the cardstock should be inked in black, including the card itself.

Step 7: FINISHING TOUCHES
Layer the cardstock together as shown in the finished card. Using your stickles, add a dab in the middle of all the stars, and outline the layers as desired. Allow to dry. You are done! J

This weeks card is a mixture of fun and floral. The base is Kraft cardstock, where I embossed a row of flowers with white embossing powder. I then stamped Artful Legacy's WALNUT WITH EYES AG 456 D 3 times in a row with my Copic Markers and added some Crystal effects to make the shells nice and glossy. They are matted on dark brown cardstock and popped up with dimensionals. The sentiment is Artful Legacy's "Mama said" ALS 181 F . This was also matted on dark brown and popped up in the bottom right corner. A green polka dot ribbon with bow finshes off this fun card.

First, my apologies to Christine and Buck-these photographs do not do their stamps justice! The weather here today is cloudy so no chance of good lighting for photos! The colors in these cards though are really, hot pink, orange, lime green and a teal color and the patterns, along with the colors, to me anyway, just SHOUT 1960's-1970's (although I barely remember those years-being a mere child of 10 at the latter! Lol!) I used Artful Legacy stamp Amy and Friends (SKU AF 11 M) for the image on the front. Let me back up and say—I tried what’s called Joy Fold cards for the first time–and I am in love! If you want a "knock your socks off-easy peasy card" this my friends, is it! I used two different sentiments and altered the sizes as well. The AL "Be kind to strangers" stamp (SKU ALS 167 I) on one and "By Being Yourself" (SKU ALS 1265 I) on the other. On the "by being yourself" card, I added a polka-dot that you can slip the front image behind to display the card with the image and sentiment together! And, by simply receiving a card from the OKI Stampqueen-who wouldn’t! (Lol! I really suffer from low self-esteem!) Speaking of "made by who", I also stamped the back with the "Hand Stamped by Me & My Cat" stamp (SKU ALS 1089 D) as well as the (large) Black Cat (SKU AL 390 H) who, while is the next-to-smallest cat in our household, is, indeed, all black!). I am very seldom alone in my craft room-one of three cats (this varies, however, on the dispensation of treats!) is usually in there with me. Today, Inky decided to keep me company but scooted out before I could snap his picture. He was napping in the sort-this-paper box!

Supply list:
2 pieces 12 by 12 card stock
Brown ink
Scoring tool
Printed paper to decorate box
Adhesive
Dragonfly stamp (Artful Legacy)
Dragonfly Dreams stamp (Artful Legacy)
Dragonfly Definition stamp (Artful Legacy)

Cut card stock for top of box at 6 1/2 by 7 1/4
Score 1 1/4 inches on all sides.

Cut card stock for bottom at 7 1/2 by 8
Score 1 3/4 inches on all sides.

If you like your edges inked...this is a good time to do that before you put everything
together.
Cut corners into score lines and adhere to form a box.
I have found that if you decorate the inside of the box and add some card stock to the bottom and to the inside top of the box it makes it a little sturdier.
Decorate how ever you want...I added side pieces of paper to all sides of the box and to the top...that again will make the box sturdier.
I stamped my images and stamped an extra dragonfly and cut it out and pop dotted it.
This box will hold note cards that are 3 1/4 by 4 and matching envelopes that our 3 1/2 by 4 1/2

For this card I used the Artful Legacy stamps "Snail" and "Snail-a-bration". I used dimensional's to pop the snail out a little and colored the snail with a copic marker. I can see using this snail for many more projects :)

Is there really life before COFFEE? I think not! I am a coffee lover. Some would say I like it semi-light and sweet. My cup...is huge! It looks very similar to Artful Legacy's Coffee cup stamp (JB 138 L)! And that image was the perfect "blend" for the "Is there really life before coffee" sentiment (ALS 170 I). As I said in last week’s post-sometimes things work and sometimes they don’t! I thought pouring the coffee beans into the photo side and sealing them with Modge Podge would do the trick. Oh SO not! Lol. Plan B. Make the photo side into a shaker box! Yes, those are real coffee beans in there! I put the beans in, cut a piece of transparency a little larger than the photo slot, adhered it well to the frame and then covered that with the blue dry-embossed frame. I added the bow, button, bag of coffee, etc. and this just makes a cute little what-not to sit on my Hoosier in my kitchen! I enhanced the coffee in the cup with a little Crystal Effects and brought out the "steam" with a blend of Martha Stewart glitter.

The card was quick(er!) and easy, and is pretty self-explanatory. Color dusted edges of the base, punched the oval and backed it with the sentiment, added the "embellies". The sentiment on the inside I simply printed from the computer. Now that my post is done, I think I will fix a REAL cup of java, put my feet up and admire my handiwork! Great Show in Allentown, PA

Hello Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing great! I thought I would tell you about our trip to Allentown, PA. for the Heirloom Convention.

On our trip up to Allentown, PA we had a little problem - about 30 miles outside of Allentown they were working on the road and had concrete barriers on both sides of a single lane - Buck hit a pot hole, there wasn't room to miss it pulling the trailer. We had just been to Greenville over the Easter weekend visiting with our grandchildren and our granddaughter Emma had done the pot hole commerical for us (she sounds just like the lady), we called her and told her she had jinked us. We had a huge blowout on the passenger side rear tire. It was scarey, but Buck did an excellant job of getting us off to the side of the road (God was with us because it could of been really bad). It is also scarey to be off the road with all the traffic going by - thank goodness it was on the passenger side!! They sure make it hard to get to your tire - it is under the car! Buck has never had to change a tire on the road before. Then we had to figure out where the jack was and how to work it!!!! The blown tire hit the air conditioner lines - so we had no air on our trip home. We went to Wal-mart and purchased a tire on Sat. night. The show was over at 4 pm on Sunday, we loaded the trailer and headed home. We did spend the night after a few hours of driving. We got home on Monday afternoon. The ride home was good. Thank goodness - no mishaps!!!

God really blessed us with a great show in Allentown, Pa. It was great to see some of the friends we made when we were in Oaks, Pa. Sorry I forgot to take pictures - we were that busy! Buck took these and I didn't even know it. I sat at the table all day and did make & takes. (I had taken a quick bathroom break while the ladies worked). Buck has been very busy since we got home making stamps to fill the shelves back up - This is a great problem to have.

We will be leaving Thursday headed for Akron, OH for the Adventures in Stamping convention. Several years ago we attended this convention, the weather was great when we got there but on Sat. morning we got up to snow!!!!! IN APRIL. We sure hope this doesn't happen this time!!!

We are looking forward to seeing some of our friends that would visit us at Artful Legacy in Surfside Beach, SC. Oh, by the way, for all you Tim Holtz fans - he will be at this show!!!!
